Not just its unique fragrance is what makes this place extraordinary, the much uncommon concept of miniature vibrance of “Owls” all around the tables which symbolise the “Night Life” at the time of “Twilight” in the city !

Finally coming to food, the most precise description could be that they serve the regular dishes with a twist & a WOW factor in them, the following listings will help you   correlate :

Spiced Lychee :

Smooth Mocktail shots of Grenadine infused with Lychee with a twist of Tabasco Spiciness, which grant you to drink it as a shot and henceforth served in a tequila glass with loads of smoke around !

Talli Samosa :

Another apt name for a preparation like this, in which a regular samosa is infused with Rum, or say a high dose of Rum as compared to the size of the samosa which surprisingly  was a top notch combination, thus kudos for the innovation.

Fattoush Salad :

A sassy preparation of the regular Fattoush with a twist of serving in a crispy bowl which went well with the cheesiness of the salad. Presentation plus taste is what makes a salad from just “Edible” to “Likeable”.

Paneer Tikka Platter :

A complete meal including three unbeatable kinds of vegetarian tikkas, i.e. the regular paneer tikka, Paneer Hariyali Tikka & the best of all Paneer Malai Tikka. Vegans will find this particular platter a super tasty “Chakhna” along with the drinks.

Mushroom Galauti :

Anything which melts in your mouth is called “Galauti”, and these Mushroom Galauti Kebabs literally loose theirselves into your mouth, they outlast your taste buds completely with the softness & they taste so good that for some point you get confused  weather you are having real Mutton Galouti or these Mushroom ones.

Mutton Galauti :

Slightly less smoother, but equally softer, also the melt in mouth factor was still there in these beautifully curated Kebabs placed on the mini roti whose crispness goes very well with the softness of the Kebabs.

Crispy Lotus Stem :

Honey Chilly based crispy Lotus Stem dish, chopped lotus stems fried then tossed in a semi sweet & chilly sauce giving a perfect balance in sweet & chilly flavours, topped with distinctive sesame seeds which empowered the taste well. Another recommended preparation for vegans.

Bhe
Crisp.

The One With “The Biryani Bounty !”

Chef Special Biryani’s @Pinto’s Kitchen, Vijay Nagar INDORE

Ever wished to relish upon the authenticity of India’s most popular rice preparation, but feeling a bit skeptical to choose from a zillion options found in this city of foodies ? The following story will definitely help you out :

So there was Mr. Pinto, who had this Treasure reserved with him, which he shared only among his family members. This treasure of Some Real Good Recipes, including Authentic Awadhi Biryani’s which he, at his time, had served to Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru & Mrs. Indira Gandhi as their personal Chef. Undoubtedly there has to be something magical in his recipes, which had now passed on through generations making them setup this extraordinary Multi Cuisine Restaurant called Pinto’s Kitchen at Vijay Nagar in Indore. True Story !

At the first look, the place has quite decent interiors at both the floors, which a three course restaurant must have. Also their staff is quick and humble.

Apart from their appetising Main Course Dishes, they recently added these Chef’s Special Biryanis to their menu served along with some unique Raitas & a jolly good Salaan  as sides.

Raitas :

Starting with the sides, they serve 3 different kinds of raitas, i.e. Boondi Raita, Vegetable Raita and Bhurrani Raita, which is a traditional Mughlai Raita perfectly accompanying your biryanis in every possible sense. Boondi Raita had this sweetness to please your taste buds, the Vegetable Raita was sour with chopped salad in it, and the Bhurrani Raita was quite different, and was a spicy treat to your tongue !

3 Raitas
Un-Doubtedly Superb !

Salaan :

Quite a thick gravy to accomplish your biryani-hunger to its best. If you are a true biryani lover, you might know how a regular Salaan tastes like, but boy this one was nothing like it, the richness in taste with that heavenly combination of sweetness and strong spices was a Devine to the tongue.

Saalan
Un-Questionably Sassy !

Chef’s Special Biryani’s :

Chicken Biryani :

How would you define a typical chicken biryani, don’t even try to compare this with that because the perfection this biryani had was commendable, the discreteness of every grain of rice, tenderness of chicken and its classy-juicy aftertaste, which will definitely drive you to another dimension, but don’t forget to take this biryani-filled pot with you !

The layers in this serve were distinctive and the un-conventional thing this baby had was the smokey flavour came from the lit-up charcoal put inside the pot before giving it “dum” !
(8/10)

Mutton Biryani :

One thing which is excellent about this place is the authenticity they have maintained in their servings which comes un-compromizingly with the quality, as in this case, the mutton was so soft that it slipped off from the bone, the rice were again very discrete and the combination of this with salaan was quite pleasing !

Wonderful is the word that every taste bud of yours will be looking for after having this biryani. No complains at all !
(9/10)

Egg Biryani :

For Eggivorous sapiens this particular biryani will be your usual meal to kill your egg cravings of the week. Beautifully presented rice surrounded with boiled eggs will be quite a deserving preparation to satisfy your biryani needs for the time being !

Egg Biryani
Reasons to try this one includes the beautiful presentation and the overall quality.
(7/10)

Chicken Tikka Biryani :

The star of the day is finally here, well marinated and juicy pieces of chicken-tikka hidden inside the discrete colourful rice is what you can say about an excellent Chicken Tikka Biryani. Absolutely recommended preparation to make your day a Savoury-Good one.

Fish Biryani
Out of all the biryani-fusions you can think of, this chicken tikka biryani stands above all !
(9/10)

Other recommended rice preps from this place includes “Fish Biryani” “Keema Biryani”. Both are better than each other, and for vegetarians they have “Veg Biryani” as well !

Ps. You can consider calling it “Veg Biryani” not “Pulao” for this case, as the rice were very discrete and flavorous that you cannot resist having this in your option for your “NO-Non-Veg-Days” (Tuesdays, Thursdays Etc.)!

Dessert :

Gulaab Kheer :

Any meal is incomplete without a dessert, especially when you have tried half a dozen biryanis for lunch, there has to be something to splatter your tongue with sweetness. So Pinto’s Kitchen has this unique dessert in their menu which has some real rose petals which compliment the dessert perfectly !

Yes this dessert is none other than a fusion of Kheer with an extraordinary flavour of rose. The rice is well mashed that the texture of the kheer is very smooth, giving your tongue a quite pleasant surprise. This is a dessert which is not very sweet but sweet enough to give your meal a classy climax !

Overall, this place is all about good & decent Lunching/Dinner get-togethers with an extremely satisfying food experience !

Cranberry Cooler :

A basic cranberry soda but very refreshing. It had an alien “Masaledaar” twist which made this drink truly unique and a bracing beverage to have at this cafe !

Cranberry

 Nachos Salsa :

None other than regular Doritos nachos, but the salsa and the cream cheese topping are two secrets that made this serve a recommended one. The best part about these nachos is that they are served at your table at a quite affordable price !

IMG_8758 copy

Baby Paneer Burger :

Aesthetically presented this baby is small but mighty on your plate. Sliced paneer tikka, flavourfully marinated inside the buns along with cheese slice, tomatoes & cucumber. This beauty is served with two smilies, yummy salad and tomato ketchup !

Not just a regular pasta, as this preparation had the tangy and spiciness retained on your taste buds as you won’t forget to savour it to the core. Served with a crispy garlic bread this pasta won’t fail to make you lips-smack.

IMG_8780 copy

Hummus Pita :

Not JUST hummus & pita, as this preparation had two other scrumptious dips which cannot be ignored. Pesto and garlicky dips along with the hummus one were the hits of the whole platter. The falafel wrapped-up in pita bread was so soft and went just perfectly with the yummy dips. A must have from their menu.

IMG_8763 copy

Farmhouse Pizza :

Extremely buttery with a crispy crust is what made this pizza another recommended preparation. Toppings included all the veggie, but exotic ones along with lots of cheese !

Paneer Kathi Roll :

What makes any Kathi Roll a good one is its mouthful fillings, and this paneer Kathi roll was very good, as not just the filling was outstanding, but the wrap was very soft too. Served with a yummy mint chutney and onions, this preparation is highly recommended !

IMG_8773

Mexican Wrap :

A thick and healthy wrap consisting of beans, corns, paneer etc. The best thing was the sides, cream cheese & salsa dip, which were truly amazing !

IMG_8774

Baked Zucchini Cups :

Medium sized cups made of zucchini filled with cheese and olives with a herby flavour. There are three such cups in one serve. Extremely tasty and a unique preparation, must try !

IMG_8789 copy

 Affogato :

There are two things in an Affogato, Coffee and Ice-cream. If you love coffee and if you love ice-cream, you are definitely gonna love this !

IMG_8782

Waffles :

Kinda stretchy they were, but nicely presented along with the maple syrup and whipped cream. Overall serve could be improved in terms of taste, but the toppings suited very well !

IMG_8781 copy

Pancakes :

Last but certainly not the least, comes the pancakes. Very soft, these small cute pancakes were served with 3 different syrups – Maple, chocolate & mango. Also these syrups were layered between them. Absolutely loveable dessert and hence another must try here !

Overall this place is an absolutely must go on weekends if you don’t want to go very high on your pocket. A pure-veg eatery serving alcohol at some real good prices too. The pop-eat- culture perfectly suits on this place and thus they came up with something new and truly amazing !

IMG_6725
Can you guess what this delightful logo means?

Marriott itself says “Travel Brilliantly” and in order to preserve its legacy in Indore, they have launched a new casual dining called One Asia. If you are wondering, this logo stands for “Eat @ One Asia“. Also, the name is quite appropriate to the type of cuisine they serve !

Talking about the ambiance, Indore Marriott has an elegant but ornate hallway and its entrance is brilliantly finished with “Peacock” themed Doors and vast reception area. One Asia also has a decent interiors as the management tried to match the cutlery and plates with the ambiance, which is really incredible.

At Hotel Marriott Indore, there is this ongoing “Asian Street-food Festival” for which the fascinating menu is curated by Chef Kuan Lai who himself is a celebrity chef, also the menu of upcoming One Asia will belong his specialities. Some snapshots of Asian Street-food Festival are as follows :

Malaysia-Truly Asia” is the tagline of Malaysia Tourism, which also suits the menu of Asian Street-food Festival at it’s best because it is drafted by Chef Kuan Lai, who himself is from Malaysia and the preparations are dignified with a fusion of Indian, Chinese, Thai & Malaysian Cuisines.

The Festival was organised at Indore Kitchen and is upto 6th March 2018. Some of the preparations are briefly explained below :

APPETISERS :~

  • Vietnamese Fresh Rice Paper Roll (VEG):

Vermicelli rolled inside a translucent Rice Paper along with some boiled carrots coriander making it a nerdy preparation. This rare dish is accompanied with a pungent dip in order to balance its blandness.

Rice Paper Roll
Eat Healthy, Eat Fresh !

Suggestions : DO-NOT have a lot of that black dip.

  • Vietnamese Crispy Crab Rice Paper Roll :

Similar preparation with a filling of minced crab inside the crispy rice paper roll. Served with a transparent watery cucumber dip with sweet & sour flavours. Overall this dish was crisp outside, soft inside.

IMG_6750
Crispy Rice Roll.

Suggestions : Don’t have too much of the Cucumber dip with them !

  • Thai Red Curry Fish Cakes :

Bright Red chewy Fish “Tikkis” with quite distinctive Thai flavours. Not too “Melt in mouth” type texture but can be considered an OK preparation. Also served with a watery cucumber dip with sweet & sour taste.

Fish Cakes
A Thing Of Beauty !

Suggestions : Hog them before they get cold or it will get hard !

SALAD :~

  • Godo Godo Salad :

Saucy base soaked with tofu, cherry tomatoes and lettuce. This preparation had a strong peanuty taste and consisted many veggies.

Godo Godo
Alluring no ?

Suggestion : Perfect serve, can’t get any better !

MAIN COURSE :~

  • Brinjal with Sambal Oleic :

Spicy par-cooked brinjal beautifully marinated with a garlicky twist. Another fusion of Indian and Foreign flavours. Taste could be improved in terms of Indoris, otherwise a fine preparation !

IMG_6757
Spicy Egg-Plants !

Suggestion : Try only if you love Brinjal !

  •  Wok fry okra with chili black Bean sauce :

Crispy lady-fingers tossed in black bean sauce topped with dried black beans. The black bean sauce was quite pungent thus could not possibly savour the traditional Indore’s taste.

IMG_6754
Lovely Presentation Though !

Suggestion : Not recommended for bad stomach !

  • Madras Style Chicken Curry :

This preparation was seriously a mood swinger. Partially cooked chicken in Thai gravy or coconut based laxa curry. Sweet in taste but truly had some unique flavours. Tender chicken pieces with boiled potato in a fusion-full manner. It was served with “Roti Canai” which was nothing but classic “Laccha Paratha” cooked in coconut oil !

Suggestion : Spiced up flavours are more suited in this particular preparation !

DESSERTS :

  • Jasmine rice dumplings with palm sugar :

Rolled up jasmine rice with allot of semi-solid jaggery topped over it. An outstanding dessert, again a recommended preparation.

Jasmine Rice Dessert
Well Plated.

Bangkok Sour
#Enticing

Overall Indore Marriott has an outstanding ambiance showing optimum decency in terms of service and ambiance. Some delicacies of this festival were exquisite but some were a total bummer !

Situated at 3rd Floor of Malhar Mega Mall, Amor is the new Cafe-bar which is a part of  District 11 itself. The owners have a long term experience as this place is modified from a famous local Pub called “Delhi Grill”, which was a good visit as well !

With a classy & graceful ambience, this place gives you an option of both casual and outdoor dining experience with the service & staff, skilled & proficient at every aspect.

Talking about their menu, which had some really unusual terms assigned to the dishes and also the taste was damn impressive. There was a complete fusion of multiple flavours which altogether was a blend of an incompatible taste. Few most amazing dishes starting from the soup are as follows :

SOUP’S :~

  • Palak Shorba :

If you are a Palak Paneer fan, you are definitely going to relish this one. Shorba in Urdu means gravy/smooth curry but this one was Spinach based soup with small chunks of paneer and topped with fresh cream. Ultimately this palak shorba was yummzaa ! (8/10)

  • Minestrone Soup :

Primarily, a tomato based Italian soup containing assorted chopped veggies and herbs along with pasta and parmesan cheese. This one was not a creamy soup but definitely had a tangy-wangy flavour. Hence this was a “Me gusta” type of preparation. (8/10)

Processed with MOLDIV
Italian + Indian = Rahul Gandhi

Suggestion : In minestrone soup, the pasta could be more soft. But the Shorba was perfecto.

MEXICAN DELIGHT :~

  • Awesome Nachos :

The name says it all ! This thing had layers of Beans & in-house made Tortilla Chips (Nachos) with toppings such as Sour cream, Salsa Sauce, Cheese, Jalapeños & finally some olives. This fusion of Mexican layers had a really interesting element which was noticeably unique, Guacamole spread ! • Pesky Potato :

This preparation can also be called as Potato Pizza, because, boiled potato crust topped with various veggies such as tomatoes, bell-peppers, baby corns and olives and finally melted cheese. A fine starter, and hell of an innovation ! (7/10)

Suggestion : Potatoes could be a bit spicy !

DEHEKTE MUTTON KHAZANA :~

  • Mutton Seekh Kebabs :

This had all the 36 characteristics of becoming an idle seekh kebab and were also topped with lots of spicy Indian sauce with tandoori flavours which made the kebabs even more bliss-full. The kebabs were soft, juicy, flavorous & buttery, a must have for all the kebabi-creepers ! (10/10)

Processed with MOLDIV
NOT just another Kebab Dish !

Suggestions : Certainly one of the best Kebabs !

  • Mutton Chop :

Such huge pieces of meat when marinated over with spicy yoghurt preparation, this  perfectly soft and juicy mutton had the superpower of making any non-vegetarian to drool over them. The flavours were a true Divine for the taste buds and the meat was ultra-soft, therefore a highly recommended  preparation. (9/10)

Processed with MOLDIV
Qué delicioso.

Suggestion : Spare some room for these in your stomach.

VEG STARTERS :~

Three variants served nicely in three different cups so that you can never have a same flavour constantly, also three different dips having barbeque, pesto and cheesy indulging your taste buds into happiness. Choose your combo carefully because every highlight of this dish will make you feel “OMG so delicious” !

Suggestion : Another perfect serve !

These mushroom stuffed samosas were served in a Martini glass, thus called Martini Samosa. Such uncommon gesture of serving snacks in cool martini glasses made this serve a stunning preparation. These mini samosas are beautifully served around lettuce and olive salad. Recommended as snack along with a beer.

Processed with MOLDIV
Sun-kissed.

Suggestion : Try them with Barbeque dip to experience some perfectly contrasting flavours.

  • Stuffed Aloo :

NON-VEG STARTERS :~

  • Middle Finger :

Another loveable starter served in a Martini glass. Minced chicken kebabs stuffed with mozzarella sticks, then fried in bread-crump coating, can be the simplest description to this fascinating preparation. These “Fish-finger” lookalike chicken-fingers are highly recommended from this place.

Processed with MOLDIV
#Midfig

Suggestion : Must have along with the pesto mayonnaise dip.

  • Chicken Kulfi Kebab :

Soft & tender pieces of chicken coated with yummy and flavorous cream, then wrapped up in silver foil. Its a well-known preparation and thus is recommended from their menu.

Processed with MOLDIV
Twist-Open-Attack !

Suggestion : Hogg them before they cook down.

  • Chilli Basil Chicken :

This spicy treat had quite less significant flavours of basil, still consist of tender pieces of well cooked chicken. The dish also had a variety of veggies such as bell-peppers and onion.

Processed with MOLDIV
Está buenísimo.

MAIN COURSE :~

  • Butter Chicken :

This butter chicken was a surprise to the taste buds as it was incredibly less spicy unlike usually found in the city. Certainly a contrasting preparation and a must try for butter-chicken praisers.

  • What Happen in Bangkok Red/Green Curry :

None other than thai-curry with lots of veggies available in green and red gravy variants. This dish was more on a spicier side rather being a semi-sweet thai-curry. Another recommended preparation with very strong and rich flavours of coconut and lime juice !

  • Dal Makhni :

A finely prepared dal makhni having a medium spicy savouriness. Topped with lots of fresh cream giving an exciting aroma to the taste buds, but was not upto the expectations.

Suggestions : Butter chicken is a must try here.

DESSERTS :~

  • Latin-American 3 Milk Cale :

Rich cream cake soaked in sweetness of three milk, a must try dessert from the menu.

Processed with MOLDIV
The Good Sweet.

Suggestions : Gulp it before anybody else does.

  • Churros :

Last but certainly not the least, this new-comer to the city was a bit oily and over sweet. Served with whipped cream and melted chocolate. This could be improved but since its a new thing, its fair enough to try them once !

Overall, this place really had some of the most remarkable preparations in their menu which are definitely worth a try for all kind of diners.

The One With “A Man-to-Gosteen Place”

An Exotic Rooftop Lunching @ Mangosteen Cafe, Indore

Ever wanted to go at a rooftop dine out with your friends just to chill, eat & mingle, that too in an organic environment? How fulfilling will it be to one’s desire of spending the best quality time with their loved ones !

Mangosteen Cafe is owned by Mr. Saurabh Shrivastava who firmly believes in “Organic Culture” thus promotes The Five Organic Senses i.e. “See, Smell, Touch, Taste &, Hear” by providing a comforting and a loving gesture to them with an attractive ambience, lively aroma, comfortable surroundings, exotic cuisine & delightful music !

IMG_3487

The place is recently renovated at its best possible way followed by some new additions to the menu. Few play-tables such as Ludo & Chess are added along with brand new graffiti designs on the shutter outside. Also they provide a rentable co-working space for personal and conference purposes. Another USP of this place includes the fitness room made for Zumba practices and daily workout to fulfill your fitness OCDs.

This place never disappoints one in serving unique and exotic dishes as the sense of good food is seen with the staff and the owner himself. The new add-ons in their menu are as follows :

Sicilian Pizza :

The combination of sautéed mushrooms & onions, spread over the spiced up saucy crust and baked after adding lots and lots of cheese to it. This enormously cheesy preparation will definitely make you wonder how a few veggies over a wheat crust can taste so outstanding !

Roses are Red, Pizza Sauce is Too. I ordered a large, and None of it’s for You !

Suggestion : Could be a little less spicy and oily too !

Laksa Curry :

This beautiful serve will definitely make your taste buds dance with happiness as the flavours of the curry along with the steamed rice were an extreme satisfaction to one’s mouth. The soupy texture of the curry makes it an excellent to-go with the steamed rice and the strong flavours makes it an appropriate dish to try in these winters !

Suggestion : Could be served in an enclosed container so that it stays warm for long time.

Chicken Chimi Churri :

Best possible explanation to this serve could be, juicy roasted chicken seekhs  balanced over a mountain of chopped lettuce, dressed with olives, mushrooms and homemade sauce. The marinated chicken was so soft and flavorous that it does not need accomplishment. Again an excellent preparation, strongly recommended for non-vegetarians !

Processed with MOLDIV
Just Pick Up Your Seekh !

Suggestion : Don’t waste time in clicking pictures of this dish as it tastes best only when consumed hot and fresh.

Spanish Omelette + Toast + Salad :

You will find this under “Breakfast” section and is a recommended preparation for all the eggetarians. A huge omelette along with perfectly baked bread toasts is a healthy option for breakfast and light hunger solution. The simple salted salad had olives, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber sprinkled with black pepper.

Suggestion : The bread could be a little more crispier, can be accompanied with fresh orange juice.

Dal-Makhni Combo :

Ironically the most common dish found in any restaurant or Dhabha is the rarest to be found in the cafés. This dal makhni combo is one of them, dense creamy black-dal along with home-like parathas is a recommended preparation of this place. The combo includes plain salted onion salad may be in order to complete the main course meal.

Suggestion : Butter on the Parathas & a small serve of steamed rice would compliment the combo perfectly !

Barbaresca Pasta :

White and Red sauce pastas are too mainstream, therefore this barbaresca pasta is a must try out of this place. One of its kind, creamy and certainly the yummiest pasta in their menu. True Italian flavours with chopped veggies and grated cheese is the reason you cannot resist looking at it !

Eat Pasta Run Fasta !

Suggestion : This was a perfect serve, Barbaresca Risotto is also highly recommended.

Chicken Mushroom Leek Potpie :

Small chicken pieces baked in cheesy white sauce topped with small round bread-like chips served along with a potato pie. Yes, a “Potato pie” !  As stated before, this is one of their newest and unique ad-on to the menu, this preparation is a definite recommendation for everyone !

Suggestion : To be consumed hot, because the potato pie soon becomes soggy.

Hummus with Pita Bread :

Heart shaped pita breads with yummy hummus sauce and creamy salad on the side, this hummus-pita combo is always liked by hummus & pita lovers. Hummus is beautifully dressed with roasted garlic along with dried mushrooms.

Suggestion : Perfect combination, no changes needed to be done.

Pancake with Maple Syrup :

Beautifully dressed and artistically presented soft pancakes and maple syrup is an idle dessert from their menu. Served along with fresh cut fruits and homemade whipped cream, this serve gives a perfect termination to your meal.

Processed with MOLDIV
Beauty exists !

Suggestion : Could be served warm so that the butter melts over it. Honey could be an add-on.

Waffle with Blueberry Jam :

This preparation will jam your eyes into the looks of presentation of the dessert. Perfectly crisped waffles served along with homemade Blueberry jam will make you call it “Woah-ffles” instead of waffles.

That Cutlery though.

Waffles are just pancakes with Abs !

Suggestion : To be consumed when warm, Honey could be an add-on.

Now, here are some other recommendations of Mangosteen Cafe :

Overall the staff and service of Mangosteen Cafe is overwhelming, also the menu includes some of the signatory delicacies which are truly unmatched.

A single visit to this rooftop experience will definitely make you go crazy about this cafe.

A special thanks to Mr. Saurabh Shrivastava, the founder of Mangosteen Cafe for organising this Meet-up.
