The One With “PAN-ASIAN MARRIOTT !”

Ever wished to hogg upon all kinds of Asian Food under one roof at a single Restaurant which serves you a commixture of multiple Cuisines from Asia aka PAN-ASIAN Cuisines. How about if Marriott Hotels brings you just a place which serves a single cuisine but have an impression of more than one in every preparation of their kitchen by the skilled chefs to give you a luxurious and scrumptious experience in terms of service as well as food !

Can you guess what this delightful logo means?

Marriott itself says “Travel Brilliantly” and in order to preserve its legacy in Indore, they have launched a new casual dining called One Asia. If you are wondering, this logo stands for “Eat @ One Asia“. Also, the name is quite appropriate to the type of cuisine they serve !

Talking about the ambiance, Indore Marriott has an elegant but ornate hallway and its entrance is brilliantly finished with “Peacock” themed Doors and vast reception area. One Asia also has a decent interiors as the management tried to match the cutlery and plates with the ambiance, which is really incredible.

At Hotel Marriott Indore, there is this ongoing “Asian Street-food Festival” for which the fascinating menu is curated by Chef Kuan Lai who himself is a celebrity chef, also the menu of upcoming One Asia will belong his specialities. Some snapshots of Asian Street-food Festival are as follows :

Malaysia-Truly Asia” is the tagline of Malaysia Tourism, which also suits the menu of Asian Street-food Festival at it’s best because it is drafted by Chef Kuan Lai, who himself is from Malaysia and the preparations are dignified with a fusion of Indian, Chinese, Thai & Malaysian Cuisines.

The Festival was organised at Indore Kitchen and is upto 6th March 2018. Some of the preparations are briefly explained below :

APPETISERS :~

  • Vietnamese Fresh Rice Paper Roll (VEG):

Vermicelli rolled inside a translucent Rice Paper along with some boiled carrots coriander making it a nerdy preparation. This rare dish is accompanied with a pungent dip in order to balance its blandness.

Suggestions : DO-NOT have a lot of that black dip.

  • Vietnamese Crispy Crab Rice Paper Roll :

Similar preparation with a filling of minced crab inside the crispy rice paper roll. Served with a transparent watery cucumber dip with sweet & sour flavours. Overall this dish was crisp outside, soft inside.

Suggestions : Don’t have too much of the Cucumber dip with them !

  • Thai Red Curry Fish Cakes :

Bright Red chewy Fish “Tikkis” with quite distinctive Thai flavours. Not too “Melt in mouth” type texture but can be considered an OK preparation. Also served with a watery cucumber dip with sweet & sour taste.

Suggestions : Hog them before they get cold or it will get hard !

SALAD :~

  • Godo Godo Salad :

Saucy base soaked with tofu, cherry tomatoes and lettuce. This preparation had a strong peanuty taste and consisted many veggies.

Suggestion : Perfect serve, can’t get any better !

MAIN COURSE :~

  • Brinjal with Sambal Oleic :

Spicy par-cooked brinjal beautifully marinated with a garlicky twist. Another fusion of Indian and Foreign flavours. Taste could be improved in terms of Indoris, otherwise a fine preparation !

Suggestion : Try only if you love Brinjal !

  •  Wok fry okra with chili black Bean sauce :

Crispy lady-fingers tossed in black bean sauce topped with dried black beans. The black bean sauce was quite pungent thus could not possibly savour the traditional Indore’s taste.

Suggestion : Not recommended for bad stomach !

  • Madras Style Chicken Curry :

This preparation was seriously a mood swinger. Partially cooked chicken in Thai gravy or coconut based laxa curry. Sweet in taste but truly had some unique flavours. Tender chicken pieces with boiled potato in a fusion-full manner. It was served with “Roti Canai” which was nothing but classic “Laccha Paratha” cooked in coconut oil !

Suggestion : Spiced up flavours are more suited in this particular preparation !

DESSERTS :

  • Jasmine rice dumplings with palm sugar :

Rolled up jasmine rice with allot of semi-solid jaggery topped over it. An outstanding dessert, again a recommended preparation.

  • Chocolate Cake :

Layered white and dark-chocolate cake with very soft texture. Nothing much fancy, but very tasty !

DRINKS :

  • Bangkok Sour :

Pineapple juice with a little bit of lemony twist in it, nothing special but aesthetically presented !

Overall Indore Marriott has an outstanding ambiance showing optimum decency in terms of service and ambiance. Some delicacies of this festival were exquisite but some were a total bummer !

Indore Kitchen is already a hit, serving the hottest buffets in town !
